LCF Georgia Condemn the Killing of Renee Nicole Goods by ICE

We at LCF Georgia, forcefully condemn the killing of Renee Nicole Goods by an ICE officer during an operation in Minneapolis yesterday.

Renee was a mom, a citizen, a community member and advocate in her neighborhood. Per the video, she did not exercise any form of violence against law enforcement or her community and yet was attacked and killed by someone sworn to protect us. This action shows none of us are safe.

Every person, regardless of immigration status, has the right to due process – to be free from excessive force, and to be treated with dignity under the law. When those rights are violated, it does not just harm one family or one community; it weakens public trust and erodes the constitutional protections that are meant to safeguard us all.

No law enforcement agency is above the Constitution, and the use of force by federal, state, or local authorities must be strictly limited, transparent, and accountable. The power of the State must never be exercised without accountability or respect for civil rights. Public safety cannot come at the expense of basic human rights. Humanity and justice are not an option. They are essential.

Protecting civil rights and caring for one another are inseparable obligations in a just society.

We stand with Renee’s family and all our communities in demanding full accountability and an independent investigation. Justice requires that we protect both the rule of law and the basic rights that bind us together as a community.
