STATEMENT AGAINST THE WHITE SUPREMACIST DEMONSTRATIONS ON CHARLOTTESVILLE
The white supremacist demonstrations this past weekend, and our response to these acts define us on a deep level.
This is a moment where we, civil society, should declare and make abundantly clear that racial superiority is not a value or a thought aligned with the American ideals of democracy, rights, liberty, opportunity, equality, and justice for all. These values are what we, Americans (including both American-born and Americans-by-choice individuals) work for and embody every single day.
Freedom and opportunity to prosper and succeed for families and children, achieved through hard work regardless of social class or circumstances of birth are what makes this country great.
We condemn the violence and we are devastated by the deaths of Heather Heye, and Virginia State Policemen H. Jay Cullen and Berke M.M. Bates.
We join the grieving families of those lost, in pain and injured both physically and emotionally by these deplorable events.
The Latino Community Fund (LCF Georgia) will continue to build our organizations, share a narrative that is true to our hard-working, resilient, innovative and generous community and create opportunities to identify, grow and promote leadership and civic engagement.
We stand with so many, the majority of this country, against hate.
We are in this together.
