The Latino Community Fund (LCF Georgia) recognizes the need to mobilize and organize against institutional racism and White Supremacy and unequivocally affirms that Black Lives Matter.
We honor the lives of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Dreasjon “Sean” Reed, George Floyd, Tony McDade, and thousands of individuals killed, that suffered pain, were incarcerated and wrongly accused for centuries. This is the legacy of violence and racism showing in a number of ways, including police brutality.
We, as communities and governments have failed to protect Black communities, including Black Latinos in the US and Latin America.
Law enforcement, politics and culture are all plagued by implicit biases toward Black community members and are in need of reform.
The cries for justice have gone unheard long enough. Black communities deserve real justice: structural change instead of broken promises, freedom from unjust and targeted policing, and the space and resources to grieve, heal, re-build, and thrive.
June is Pride month and it is also immigrant heritage month, and it’s a reminder that our struggles and liberation are connected. As we work to build, protect, and support our communities, there’s no better tool than our collective power.
The civil rights that we benefit from today, have been fights led largely by African-American and Black communities in the South. It was, after all, the national and international attention that this movement, including the Freedom Rides, Birmingham campaign, sit-ins, marches and other Southern efforts drew that forced politicians’ hands on legislation such as the Civil Rights Act.
We, at the Latino Community Fund, commit to uplift Black voices, Black leadership and Black organizing in the social justice work we do.

El Fondo Latino Comunitario (LCF Georgia) reconoce la necesidad de mobilizar y organizar comunidades con el propósito de desmantelar el racismo institucional y la supremacía blanca. Afirmamos inequívocamente de las vidas de nuestros compañeros negros, afro-americanos y afro-latinos importan y valen y deben ser protejidas.
Honramos las as vidas de Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Dreasjon “Sean” Reed, George Floyd, Tony McDade, y las de miles de individuos que murieron, fueron asesinados, encarcelados, sufrieron y fueron acusados injustamente como parte del legado violento del racismo, que nos muestra su cara de muchas maneras incluyendo la brutalidad policial.
Nuestras comunidades y nuestros gobiernos han fallado en la tarea de
protejer a la comunidad negra, afro-americana y afro-latina en los Estados Unidos de Norte America pero también en Latinoamerica.
Las fuerzas del órden, la política y el ambiente cultural en el que vivimos están plagados de inconscientes colectivos en contra de las comunidades negras, incluyendo las afro-latinas. Estas instituciones necesitan reformarse.
El llamado a la justicia no ha sido escuchado y es tiempo de crear un verdaero cambio, un cambio estructural y rechazar promesas vacías. Las comunidades negras se merecen las inversiones, el tiempo y el espacio para sanar, reconstruir y prosperar.
Junio es el mes del “Orgullo Gay” y es también el mes en el que se reconoce nuestra herencia inmigrante. Junio nos recuerda que nuestras luchas están conectadas. Mientras trabajamos para construir, protejer y apoyar a nuestras comunidades, debemos recordar que no hay mejor herramienta que nuestro poder colectivo.
El movimiento por los derechos civiles que hoy nos benefician, es una lucha que ha sido liderada por afro-americanos y comunidades negras particularmente en el sur del país. Es la atención a este movimiento que incluyó los viajes de bus, la campaña de Alabama, esfuerzos y protestas que forzaron a los legisladores de la época a pasar el Civil Rights Act.
Nosotros, en el Fondo Latino Comunitario, nos comprometemos a elevar a las voces negras, liderazgo negro en el trabajo que hacemos.
Nosotros, en el Fondo Latino Comunitario, nos comprometemos a denunciar la supremacía blanca en los espacios Latinos/Hispanos en los que nos movemos.
Nos pronunciamos en solidaridad con nuestros compañeros negros y afro-descendientes de comunidades diversas.
